Highlights from Spring 2026

Roots to Rapids officially launched its first program in May 2026, marking an exciting milestone in creating inclusive, community-based paddling opportunities for youth in Calgary.
The inaugural program welcomed 18 youth participants, supported by a dedicated team of 4 coaches, creating a supportive and engaging environment focused on skill development, confidence-building, and connection to the sport.
Programming was delivered across four sessions at accessible local sites, including Bowness Park and Carburn Park, allowing participants to experience Calgary’s waterways firsthand. While one planned session was cancelled due to water conditions, the program maintained strong momentum and participation throughout the remaining sessions.
This first Roots to Rapids program demonstrated both the demand for and impact of accessible paddling opportunities for youth—laying a strong foundation for future growth and expanded programming.
