Join us for our fall program in September!
Welcome to Roots to Rapids program registration. This program is designed to introduce young people (7-17 years) to whitewater kayaking in a fun, supportive, and welcoming environment. Our goals is to have more underrepresented paddlers on the water. The program will run for 4 weeks, starting September 3 until September 24. The time is 6:00 – 8:00 pm. For the first session, arrive at 5:45 pm
Dates: Thursday evenings 6:00-8:00 pm | September 3, 10, 17, 24
The goal of this program is to create and inspire lifelong paddlers who are safe and skillful and to foster an appreciation for paddlesports and the outdoors. Paddlers will work on a gradual progression with a focus on instilling confidence in a supportive and educational environment. Aimed at developing foundational skills and building confidence on the water, the course provides a fun, supportive environment for learning. As participants gain experience, the focus shifts to refining paddling techniques, improving boat control, and developing a greater sense of comfort within the group and on the water.
This program is designed to introduce participants to the exciting and active lifestyle of river kayaking. To generate enjoyment and appreciation for kayaking and the outdoors for all participants. To engage youth to get out on the water together in the future and enjoy the great waterways we have locally in Calgary. By the end of the program, participants can expect to understand how to safely and competently paddle a whitewater kayak in Class I moving water and will have experienced kayaking in easy Class II moving water.

Registration is limited to 10 youth.
